What a $970 million projection means — and doesn’t mean — for gastroparesis patients

Gastroparesis is getting more attention — and a new market forecast shows just how large the need has become.

According to DelveInsight, the U.S. gastroparesis market was valued at about $150 million in 2025 and is projected to reach about $970 million by 2036, growing at about 18% a year from 2026 to 2036. DelveInsight also puts diagnosed prevalent cases in the United States at about 724,000 in 2025.

That growth is not a treatment arriving tomorrow. It is a projection, driven by rising disease burden, more awareness and diagnosis, and demand for treatments that work better than what is available today. Current care still focuses on symptom management, dietary changes, and medicines to improve gastric motility — and, as DelveInsight notes, existing options do not control symptoms well enough for some patients, and safety concerns remain.

The therapies named in the forecast are still investigational — in development, not approved treatments you can get today:

  • Naronapride (ATI-7505) — a selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist intended to improve gastrointestinal motility
  • CIN-102 (deudomperidone) — an investigational prokinetic candidate
  • PCS12852 (YH12852) — a 5-HT4 receptor agonist being investigated for gastric motility
  • NG101 (metopimazine) — an investigational antiemetic candidate

GSSI covered naronapride separately: it is not approved, not available, and its global Phase 3 trial had not started yet, with a start anticipated in the first half of 2027. The same caution applies here: a pipeline is not a prescription, and this post is not medical advice. Talk to your own clinician about any treatment question.

So what does a 2036 projection mean for a patient today? It means the need is real, it is large, and it is growing — and that is exactly why support matters right now, while treatment options are still catching up.

That is what GSSI does. Gastroparesis Support Services, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) that provides non-medical support to patients while they are being treated — hotels, food and grocery cards, and local rides when funding is available, plus gift bags. GSSI does not provide medical treatment itself.

A bigger market in 2036 will not pay for a hotel room tonight, a ride to testing, or groceries this week. Patients need that help now, and that is the gap GSSI is working to fill.

You are not alone in this. If you are living with gastroparesis, or caring for someone who is, we see you — and we are building toward being able to help more people, more consistently.
